AzureFilm's new Skin line comes in two warm tones, Cappuccino and Latte. The colours are lovely, but what I really care about is how a filament prints, so I threw some tricky Voronoi models at them.
The Skin line
In May 2023 AzureFilm launched a new line called Skin, with colours that resemble darker and lighter skin tones. I tested Skin Cappuccino and Skin Latte. As always with AzureFilm, the spools are wound very carefully and I love the finish of their new spools. I also saw that you can buy refills without a spool and print your own reusable plastic spool, which is an interesting idea worth checking on their website.
Printing tests
A colour is pointless if the filament doesn't print well, so that's what I focused on. I printed both at 205 °C, which is the sweet spot on my printer. Yours might be a little higher or lower.
- A Voronoi-style bear printed seamlessly. I could have raised the temperature a little to avoid a few rough edges, but the filament handled it really well.
- A Cappuccino vase in vase mode at 0.8 mm extrusion came out perfect. It's a really modern colour.
- An IKEA-style piece that came out really nice.
- A coffee splash, the model you see everywhere, and in six years of 3D printing this was my first one: cappuccino pouring out of a cup printed in Skin Latte.
- A knot-shaped bowl that my wife was waiting to fill with lollies for the kitchen.
- A Voronoi deer, a very complicated print, on a raft because its footprint is so small.
Why AzureFilm is my go-to
Thinking back, I can't recall an AzureFilm filament that didn't print correctly. Even their challenging bamboo filament worked after some adjustment. That's why it's what I load when I test a new printer, whether it's my Artillery X1 or something else. I don't have much time, and I need to be sure that any problem I see comes from the printer, not the filament. Same quality, same temperature, two beautiful tones, and I'm sure more colours will follow in this line.
