A short film I made in May 2018 about changing your life, taking risks and following your passion. It's the story of Silvio, who left engineering behind to become a tailor.
From engineering to a sewing machine
Silvio studied mechanical engineering in Naples for six years. But he reached a point where he wasn't happy with what he was doing, and his personal life was suffering too. Creating things had always been inside him, and he didn't want it to become just a childhood memory. So, quite abruptly, he bought a sewing machine, without having any idea how to thread it. He signed up for a sewing class, and the more he made, the more the passion grew.
A phoenix from the ashes
Eventually he decided to "twist" his life. When I filmed him, he was working full-time from home as a tailor. He describes it as the chance to live a new life and to put himself on the line again. His message stuck with me: don't be afraid to follow your dreams, because we have one life and we have to live it intensely. And, in his words, give the people around you the chance to see you as an example.
I made this film because his story says something I believe in: passion doesn't have to stay a hobby forever.
