In May 2019 DJI teased a launch for the 15th with the slogan "Unleash your other side". I made a short video guessing what it could be, and as so often with DJI, guessing was nearly impossible.
What could it be?
The teaser hinted at water, so my ideas were all over the place: a new DJI underwater drone? A new DJI action camera that could record underwater? Or an underwater version of the Osmo Pocket? We had been expecting so many products from DJI at that point that making a confident guess felt impossible.
The drone everyone wanted
Of course, the product a lot of us really wanted was the Spark 2, ideally weighing less than 250 grams for the European market, where the new rules were about to make that weight class very attractive. But who knew?
Looking back, the event on the 15th of May turned out to be the launch of the Osmo Action, DJI's first action camera, not a drone. My wish for a sub-250 g DJI drone had to wait a little longer.
