"Why do you do YouTube?" "Why do you feel the need to be out there?" I get asked that a lot. So in September 2018 I answered with a five-minute recap of my first 38 years.
Why I made it
This was one of the goals I set at the start of 2018: a kind of trailer of my life, so that anyone landing on my channel could get an idea of who I am, what I do and why. It turned into a fast recap of 38 years squeezed into five minutes. It was one of the biggest projects of my first year on YouTube, and it means a lot to me.
The message
I wanted the video to carry a positive message: no matter where life takes you, don't quit your passions. That's been the thread running through my life, from my first video camera as a kid to picking up the camera again as a dad with a full-time job.
